"Why can't I buy shower heads that deliver more water than 2 1/2 gallons per minute?"
It is now a federal law that all showerheads sold in the United States must be low-flow.
"If I don't like the small heads that come with this dual arm unit, can I install different shower heads?"
Yes you can. We do not recommend installing a heavier than
provided head at the end of the double joints (the farthest head), as it might put a strain on the arms and joints. When you have double joints like these do, they can only support
so much weight. Also, if you do install your own heads, please install water saving shower heads. The majority of our customers love the heads that come
with this set, but you do have the option to take either or both off and install different heads (a light weight shower head on the end of the double joints please).
"Do the flow control valves shut off completely?"
The flow control valves (included) are intentionally designed to not be able to shut off completely. This is done for safety reasons.
Consider if you shut both valves off completely at the heads (rather than shutting off the shower valve).
You then would have the hot and cold water both on at the same time - connected. That means that which ever side has more pressure would then push
itself (either the cold going into the hot line or the hot going into the cold side).
That means that there now is a potential to get completely all hot water coming out of cold sides of valves. Including when you turn the valves back on
at these shower heads. All hot water could come out and that could scald you. To help prevent potential scalding the volume control valves won't shut off completely.
"Does the showerhead I ordered swivel, or do I need an additional part for it to do so?"
It is rare for a showerhead not to have a swivel feature unless its position adjustment is in the shower arm or it is a "flat" model that is meant to be installed parallel to the floor. With the exception of those mentioned, some industrial models and most handshowers, standard-style showerheads generally come with a built-in swivel feature.
"Do you sell a shower head with an easily removable flow reducer?"
Due to Federal energy savings laws we may not sell a shower head where the water restrictor is "easily removable."
"Do all of your heads deliver 2.5gpm?"
Yes, at 80 psi all do (unless it specifically states otherwise).
If your house has less pressure than 80psi (while the head is operating) then you might get less volume than 2.5gpm.
"My shower head is off-center when it is tightened. How can I center it without leaks?"
Back it off until it is centered; then count the number of turns it takes to remove it. Reapply lots of PTFE thread sealing tape
(clockwise), then thread the shower head onto the arm the same number of turns that it took to remove it.
